$480.00

Early Release Wednesdays - 8 Week Series - Sept. 9 through Oct. 28

24 hrs of enrichment @ $480.00

New this season! Student pick-up for all QA public schools.

When we’re connected to the shift in seasons, we can connect with transitions in ourselves. Children will practice body awareness through easeful yoga poses(asanas), in a noncompetitive, inclusive outdoor environment. We’ll enjoy the abundance of urban nature that surrounds us in our beautiful city of Seattle and in the neighborhood of Queen Anne. Your kids can expect, crafting, learning about plant life cycles, sharing stories, singing songs, seed collecting, harvesting, fall gardening, observing animal behavior and more all outdoors and in our lovely teaching p-patch. In-turn, discovering their own unique ways of being as they transit through hard and not so hard situations that life hands them. All while having fun in the fresh Autumn air and falling into the new school year with some calm connection with friends and community.

Good for parents to know:

  • Parents / caregivers / grown-ups are welcome to participate.

  • No yoga experience required.

What kiddos should bring / wear:

  • 1 Yoga Mat. In Bloom KYG has a few extras if needed but often children enjoy bringing their own. Please let us know if we can help provide a yoga mat for you. We don’t have the funds to purchase them for every student but we hope to do so in the future. For now, we can usually find a gently used mat which is actually perfect for outdoors.

  • Full water bottle, back pack or tote bag, sun screen, a filling snack, rain coat/wind breaker, closed toe shoes or boots. Clothing for rain. Be sure to stay tuned into your favorite weather app!

  • Yoga and gardening is typically practiced in comfy clothes, but whatever your child wants to wear is fine with us. Be sure it’s okay that they get their clothes dirty from gardening, crafting and being outside.

  • Please pack a filling and nutritious snack for your children. We will have limited amounts of snacks on hand but only for emergencies. Be sure to fill out the allergy fields at registration.

  • Gardening gloves and tools are okay but not necessary.

    What to expect:

  • Outdoor Yoga and Gardening is a special bonding opportunity for children. Expect group yoga, breathing exercises, mindful movements, time to relax, silliness, and laughter! Expect being in contact with soil, water, rocks, sticks, grass, bugs, worms. Expect using hand shovels and water hoses. Expect using crafting supplies such as glue, markers, glitter. All of these exploratory was of learning can get messy.

  • Restroom breaks will happen as we nature walk from Coe Elementary to Little Howe to the P-Patch to Little Howe Park. Restrooms are at Little Howe Park.

  • NEW! Depending on where your kiddos are coming from, QAE and John Hay students will meet at Little Howe Playfield at 2:25 p.m. Coe students will meet their In Bloom KYG instructor at Coe Elementary at 1:10 p.m. where we’ll start our nature walk to Little Howe. We’ll all nature walk to the p-patch together after practicing yoga and having snack. Pick-up for all kiddos will be at Little Howe Park at 4:30 p.m.

  • Your child will need to bring their yoga mat only on the first day. For the following weeks, In Bloom KYG will store them to keep on hand and set them up so you don’t have to remember is every week. The kiddos will take them home the last week of class. In inclement weather we’ll set up under the pop-up shelter.

  • Children participate in yoga in many different ways, including observing (sometimes for the duration of the class!), receiving help, and trying things on their own. This is all developmentally appropriate and totally fine. We engage your child in class, but feel it’s okay for them to simply relax. We all will have fun, and enjoy your child however they choose to participate.

    Refunds and Cancelations:

  • All classes, workshops, sessions or series must be paid in full by the first day, unless there is a prior plan made with In Bloom KYG.

  • Payments are non-refundable. They can be used towards credit for a future class.

  • Instructor may cancel class because of high winds, lightning or flash flooding. Make-up classes may or may not be offered.
